After being idle for some time, the first page out of the printer is unreadable. If I print 2 copies of a page - the first one is messed up and the second one is just fine. This is an intermittent problem but way too frequent.

@demcc, Welcome to HP Support Community!
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'd like to know the following-
Does this happen while making photocopies or just printing?
Which application are you trying to print from?
Have you tried printing from a different program? If the document prints normally from a different software program, there might be an issue with the original software program.
While you answer the questions, follow the steps below-
Update the printer firmware
Download available firmware updates from the HP website
With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.
Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thanks for the reply to my question. I have had issues printing from Chrome and from Excel. I reinstalled the printer software today and will let you know if the issue continues. Again, thanks for your help.
