For a while now, every time I want to print, I get this error message: "Remove and reinstall the indicated ink cartridge, making sure it is correctly installed. If this message continues to appear, replace the indicated ink cartridge." The icon of three black balls in a triangle indicates it's the black ink cartridge. At first, just popping the cartridge out and then back in cleared up the problem so I could print one job. I just had to do it each time. Then that stopped working. I read the forum and searched online and did the following:

1. Tried two new ink cartridges (right out of the box). Didn't fix it.

2. Cleaned the contact dots on the cartridge with a q-tip dipped in isopropyl alcohol and then cleaned the corresponding dots on the printer head. Didn't fix it.

3. Did a hard restart (removing ink cartridges, unplugging the power cord from the wall, unplugging the power cord from the back of the printer, holding down the on/off button for thirty seconds to remove any latent charge, then plugging everything back in and replacing the ink cartridges). Didn't fix it.

I'm at wit's end. Can't print, can't afford to keep buying ink cartridges at $20+ a pop. I'm essentially left with a scanner. Really frustrating!
