I just purchased an HP officejet 6700 premium for my iMac computer. I also installed Microsoft for my iMac. I do not want the printer to ever print double sided. I have tried going to the system preferences / printers, etc. and it directs me to the printer website. From there I cannot find a way to change the default to double sided printing to "off". When printing in Word, i select print then show presets, and it says that double sided is turned off but it still prints double sided. I also tried to save a new printer setting with the double sided printing as turned off and it still prints double sided. I also can't find out how to change the default setting on the actual printer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi crayric,

You are gladly welcome.

The information above refers to Mac OS X indeed, however I included the steps for the latest OS X versions (10.7 or 10.8) as you haven't mentioned your operating system version.

If you may have an earlier OS version as 10.6 or 10.5 you may need to click the triangle icon next to the printer name to expend the print settings within the print dialog.

For any issues please clarify your exact operating system version (You may find that out by clicking the Apple icon and then About This Mac, as well please let me know the exact Office for Mac version installed on your Mac (e.g. 2004, 2008 or 2011).

Hi,
Please follow the steps below to disable two-sided printing:

From the application used to print click the File menu, select Print. The Print window appears.
NOTE: The Print window might be minimized. Click Show Details to see all available settings.

Click the lowest selection box listed as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.

Select Layout from the drop-down menu.

Set the Two-Sided option as Off.

Click the Presets menu, select Save Current Settings as Preset and complete the print job... the used preset will remain default till another preset will be used.

Regards,
Shlomi

Thank you Shilomi. I am not sure if those insttuctions are for windows/PC vs. mac. I have a Mac.

I tried following your instructions and when I click print in Word, there is not a show details link, or a Copies & Pages link. I also don't see a Layout button or Link.

I am thinking that those isntructions would work for a windows/PC - but not a Mac?

Let me know what you think.

From the Presets dropdown, I can click Show Presets, and then from there I can click Layout and see two sided option - but it says that it is OFF. I clicked save presets, and printed, and it STILL printed out on two sides!! That is what I cannot figure out.
