Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

hp officejet 4650 wont wake up. you can not disable auto off or sleep mode. Telling everybody to turn off printer or unplug it is BS!!!! If i had know about this issue before i bought it I would not have bought it!!!!!! this is trash software if that is the only answer you have for this problem!!!!!!! nobody wants to unplug and plug back in printer every day because of your failure to put wake from sleep mode in programmed software. who in their right mind would wright such dumb crap??? who did this get tou to end user with this glitch in software??? total bad planning on somebodies part.

My firmware is up to date and I am having this issue.  Very inconvenient.

Agree...my printer is downstairs and I am mostly printing from upstairs.  So I hit print, run downstairs to get my pages only to find my printer still sleeping....then having to unplug and plug and wait for it to print....very inconvenient.  You would think they would have an update fixing this by now.

@hkusc, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I see that your printer does not wake up when you send print job to it, this could be an issue with connectivity or sleep mode settings.

Ensure the sleep mode settings ar set to max and also disable auto-off if applicable. check the printer setup menu for options.

Assign manual IP to the printer

The steps on how to set a manual IP address can be found here.

For the DNS servers please use 8.8.8.8 for the Manual Preferred DNS Server and 8.8.4.4 for the Alternate DNS server. These are Google’s public DNS servers.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
