If you are using HP Smart for iOS...

Observations (current at this writing):

There are only a few controls - and these differ a bit depending on what type of file you are printing.

HP Smart - iOS and Android - Download, How-to, Videos, and FAQ

HP Printers - Using the HP Smart App (Android, Apple iOS)

If you want to change the specifics in a document, for example, you pretty much have to edit the document before you send it to print.  This would include fonts, structure, and margins, at least to the extent that the HP Smart will tolerate the settings.  For example, you might be able to set very small margins in your Pages document only to see those margins auto-adjusted by the software to "fit" or "fill" the document page onto the paper.  Conversely, you might set exceedingly small margins in your Pages document (for example) only to see the document content cut off when printed.  Nonetheless, to the extent that it is supported at all, margins and other document formatting are best completed within the document before the document is submitted to print.

Images suffer a similar restriction - the mobile version of the Smart software likely does NOT support borderless printing in spite of whether the printer itself supports this feature.  Other features are supported.  For example, the latest version of HP Smart does support fit, fill, original size, and "resize" (manually adjusting the size of the print on the paper.

If you can get to a Windows machine...

HP Smart for Windows is a bit "smarter" than the mobile version - more of the printer's features are available using the Windows version of the software.  For example, to the extent that the printer supports borderless printing (and not all printers do so), the software supports borderless printing at least on the standard supported paper sizes.  HP Smart for Windows supports printing multiple images on a single paper, too.

Like the iOS version of the software, Windows documents are best formatted before being submitted to print using HP Smart for Windows, including creating the margins and structure wanted / needed in the document.  There is a bit more leeway in selecting print format when using HP Smart for Windows - for example, the booklet print option is supported.
