Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I have a Officejet pro 6960, bought in 2016. it has recently stopped printing blue . I clean the printheads and the fault will clear and test sheet will be fine.  I then print a document and the first page is OK but then it gradually loses the blue, which is replaced with pink. The paper is good quality and the cartridges are from instant ink.

Hey there! @john556,

Have you tried checking with the regular ink cartridges? Does the issue persist?

Try the steps recommended below and check if it helps.

Restart the printer

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
Turn the printer on.

Remove, inspect, and reseat the cartridges

Clean the electrical contacts

Clean the printhead

The printhead could be clogged, and you might need to clean the printhead several times to restore print quality. Use an automated tool from the printer control panel to clean the printhead.

   CAUTION:

Never turn off the printer when ink cartridges are not installed. To avoid issues that require cleaning the printhead or that can damage the ink system, always replace ink cartridges as soon as possible, and always turn off the printer using the Power button.

  1. From the printer control panel, open the Setup  menu.

  2. Open the Printer Maintenance menu.

  3. If necessary, open the Tools menu, and then touch Clean Printhead.

    A test page prints.

Example of the printhead cleaning test page

  4. Examine the test page.

    • If the print quality is unacceptable, touch Clean Again to continue the next level of cleaning. If necessary, repeat these steps for the third cleaning cycle.

      NOTE:

If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes before you perform all three levels of cleaning again.

    • If the print quality is acceptable, touch Done.

Many thanks for the suggestions, spoke to HP support and they advised I do the same, however it did not sort the problem. Got fed up of wasting time and paper so with bought a new one.
