Product: hp officejet pro 8720
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

One computer fails to print, will only print to file (but Print and Scan doctor DOES allow "Internal print", says software is at fault)

I deleted then reinstalled s/w, no change

Think problem  was due to latest huge Win10 update. Eventually I deleted every trace of HP printer software (using various tools)  then installed everything from scratch. This time the OfficeJet Pro 8720 drivers worked.
