new black ink cartridge

HP poffice jet pro 6975

keeps telling me to remove and reinstall my blak ink cartridge.  The last black ink cart was empty, I have put in 2 different brand new never used black HP ink cart and neither one works.  Printer error message is to remove and reinstall the cartridge. It says that every time I do it!  I've rebooted the printer to no avail.

Welcome to HP support community.

Clean the electrical contacts

  1. Open the door to access to the ink cartridges.

  2. Wait until the carriage stops moving before you continue.

  3. Push the tab on the ink cartridge indicated by the error message, and then pull the ink cartridge from its slot.

       CAUTION:

Clean the ink cartridges one at a time. Do not leave an ink cartridge outside of the printer for more than 30 minutes.
