i have an HP Envy 7858 printer. I inserted a new office depot black ink cartridge 64 and keep getting c "cartridge problem" error message. Have reinstalled multiple times, powered off and unplugged my unit. checked for most updated firmware without results.

@scalpeldoc, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I see that the printer is in an error state and I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the issue.

This could be an issue with the ink or the ink system. I'd recommend you follow the steps from the document HP Printer Does not Print and Error Indicates Faulty Ink Cartridge.

If the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer/cartridge replacement.

Hope this helps!
