HP Recommended

office jet 4655 streakily printed half a page then printed only blank pages after that. makes noise as though printing, but outputs blank pages. test pages, alignment pages also come out blank. printer firmware is up to date.  installing a new ink cartridge did not solve the problem.  HP's help pages are endlessly frustrating. Now what? any help would be much appreciated. final recourse is to throw printer out the window.
