Solved!

officejet 5212 "rolls down" two characters at the left and right sides of each line

officejet 5212
Chrome OS

I am using wireless printing from a chromebook and just installed a new black ink cartridge to continue on a printout of a 116 page manual when the included black ink cartridge that this brandnew printer came with.  Now the printer is printing in the space between the lines curving up into the regular line then all the middle of the line is fine and the end of the line is fine.  However if the beginning was correctly printed, then the end of that line will curve down into the space between the lines.  STRANGE!

Hi @Nelsonjandk

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Try printing a color document and check if the issue persists.

Align the printer

Go to Setup > Tools > Align printer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
