I've tried three times (at least) to make the color printing function work. It worked some time ago, but is not used often, but I've come into reasons to use it regularly now. I've walked through the process on this page http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02866222#Service_Printer to find out problems.
I'll try to include some samples and screen images of problems.

I gotten through the printer head alignment and received the message that the alignment was unsuccessful.
I've tried printing on different types of paper, including astro brights, glossy paper and Premium 22 lb weight paper.

The last images which show two note cards and a partial of a third is what i'd like to be printing, the correct colors etc. It's a download of the cards I've purchased and need to print.

What does it mean that the alignment was unsuccessful, and what do I do about that. Oh, I was going to include a picture of the message the printer gave me. (That picture is too large to place here.)

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you're well @MercyGrace,

I saw your post about the print quality issues you're facing with your Officejet 8600. I noticed you've tried the troubleshooting steps I would have suggested for this issue. The alignment and the P.Q issues are all related, usually to the printhead. The next step would be to call phone support to discuss a replacement printer to resolve this problem. I will leave their contact process below. If you have issues reaching them, let me know.

Hit the "Accept as Solution" if we've reached a solution, and the "thumbs up" to say thanks for my help. 🙂

Have a great day:D
