HP Officejet Pro 8740
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

HP Officejet Pro 8740.  Password is set and needs to be reset.

Previous posts state to reset to factory defaults which isn't possible since this feature is locked by the unknown password and login ID.

How does one recover the password and ID or reset the printer?  Again this feature is not available via the control panel or browser without the existing ID or password.

@icenova,

Thank you for showing your interest in HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel.

I understand that your HP OfficeJet Pro 8740 All-in-One Printer is locked and you need help to unlock it.

In this scenario, I would suggest the next step would be to perform an advanced reset on the printer.

Now these instructions are specific to your printer model. Hence I would be sending you a private message with the instructions on how to reset the printer.

Please check the mailbox icon at the top-right corner of this screen.

Please check your Private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile,

Next, to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

I hope this helps resolve this issue completely,

Jeet.  This did not help.  You mentioned buttons in your solution.  There is only an LED DISPLAY on this printer:

There are no buttons, so the solution  does not work.

Can you provide a solution to an LED SCREEN ONLY HP Officejet Pro 8740 // for password recovery??
