I just bought a Photosmart 5520 e-All-in-One series today and as I'm trying to install it the message shows up on the screen saying, "Printhead is damaged", I've tried looking at the forums and other websites and nothing is giving me anything helpful to fix this problem at all.

Hi,

My suggestion: bring it back to the shop and asking for a replacement or a refund.

Hope this helps.

Hello pleurs,

  • While the printer is ON, remove all the cartridges form the printer.
  • Power Off the Printer .
  • Unplug the Power Cord from back of the printer.
  • Wait for 2 minutes.
  • Plug in the Power Cord to the printer.
  • Power On the printer .  If you see the "Printhead is damaged". Then you may have to call in HP Tech Support for further Assistance. Else go to next step ...
  • Install cartridges and check if the same error is displayed.

If there is an error, Then you may have to call in HP Tech Support for further Assistance.

Hi,

I bought the printer only 20 days ago and had the same problem...

I already contacted HP assistance, they told me it's a SW problem which can be solved by updating the drivers. They sent me a link and I've followed it , but without any result.

I've now just followed also the last instructions given in the message above, but nothing had changed...

screen message continues saying: "printhead damaged: contact assistance"

I am really disappointed, having just replaced the old HP printer which was broken after 2 years & 2 months - just outside the warranty, but rarely used (200 pages in total)....

Hello alemazzu,

The error "printhead damaged" indicates an issue with the printhead.

The printhead is an fixed part of this printer , hence printer required to be serviced.

Please contact HP Tech Support for further assistance.
