I see a number of questions regarding poor quality of HP ink cartridges over the past months as well as a ridiculously low number of printed copies with each expensive replacement. It seems to be coming it over $1 a page. Can this problem be fixed. I suppose changing printers might be the only solution.

I'm still having ink cartridge problems. I stopped buying HP ink from Amazon and bought directly from HP. I replaced all cartridges and the color ones worked fine but black doesn't print properly. I'm not getting an error message but the diagnostic indicates a problem. I've cleaned, I've aligned, I've wiped connections with a soft lint-free cloth. I get a black outline on the box (black) and four horizontal lines with the first third of each line black, the second third about 60% black and the third third 30% grey. The "community" support seems to have a number of questions but I don't see answers.

Do I need to just toss the printer?
