I only printed a small number of pages earlier.  They print-outs were not dark.  Today the print-out is so faded and some parts are not visible at all.  My ink cartridge was still quite full as shown in the message when I was printing.   I tried to use the copying function.  The copy came out dark and clear.  This puzzled me.  Both printing and copying use the same ink cartridge.  Why is it that the printing function has no more ink and the copy function has plenty of  ink?  I replaced my ink cartridge so frequently because the print-out looked very bad.  Now I wonder if the cartridges were all fine when I replaced them.

I would appreciate any enlightening information.

Welcome to HP support community.

If you are dissatisfied with the quality of your printouts, increase the print quality.

Follow the below steps:

  1. In the software application you are trying to print from, click File, and then click Print.

    The Print window opens.

  2. Open the Properties dialog box.

Depending on the software application, the button might be Properties, Options, Printer Setup, Printer, or Preferences.

  3. Depending on your print job, you might consider modifying the following settings:

  4. Print Quality: select Best mode for better print quality.
