printer and computer no longer communicating with each other

HP Officejet Pro 8600
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Help.

 

Getting following error message:  There is a problem with the printer or ink system.  Turn printer off, then on.  If problem persists, contact HP.

Printer is out of warranty.  Staples doesn't repair printers.

Removed and followed YouTube instructions for removing and cleaning printhead.  That didn't work. 

The computer knows a printer is there, but will not connect with it to actually print.  And I can't get beyond the error message to have the printer clean printhead or do anything else.

I have gone through your Post and I appreciate all your efforts and expertise in troubleshooting this issue

 

Please ensure your printer has the latest Firmware. Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

 

If the issue persists please contact HP Support for Service Options

 

Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/ and select your Country to get the Contact details for HP Support

I tried to update the firmware.  Didn't work.

 

I tried to contact customer support, but the printer is out of warranty and I was directed to this community. 

 

I will try the update again using your link.
