HP PSC 1410
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

Since I changed my black ink cartridge the printer shuts down after printing a few pages. When it shuts down only the power lamp is lit. The laptop says the printer is offline.

I had the same problem after my last cartridge change. The old HP support was able to help me by sending me a new cartridge and explaining how to reset the printer.

How do I reset the printer????

Thanks

Devi

@Devi-13, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

  • This is not an issue with the ink cartridge. It is a network-related issue. If the power light is lit, it means the printer is not turned off.
  • Is the printer connected to the PC using a USB cable?
  • Check the connection.

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Hello Kumar,

thanks for your response.

I unplugged reset the printer according to your description. It didn´t change. The usb cable is ok. It´s been working great before the cartridge change. As I said the same thing happened last time I changed the cartridge.

The HP support I had contact with last time told me a different way to reset it than your way. I forgot it though. There was some pushing buttons involved.

The scan doctor says everything is ok when the printer is turned on. When it shuts itself down and stops printing, scan doctor says it can´t connect to the printer.

Usually the printer stops printing after 3-4 pages. I unplug it and it prints another 2. I unplug it, it prints only 1 and shuts down.

?? Do you have any further suggestions?

Cheers

Devi
