HP Officejet 6000 Wireless
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

I cannot print from my iMac, which runs on OS 10.11.

I use the HP product above.

I have been able to print (a couple of times) but have been unsuccessful now in more than a dozen tries.

I've rebooted the machine, rebooted the router, deleted and re-added the printer. Nothing.

Is this printer not compatible with the latest Mac OS? If it is, please advise. Thanks!

@CapitanUser, thanks for your quick response.

Thanks for trying out the steps.

Try using HP printer driver for OSX 3.1 and check if it helps.

Download the drivers from apple website using this link.

Have you tried changing the ink cartridges and trying to print?

I'll watch your reply!

Cheers! 🙂

Hi! @CapitanUser, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!

I understand that you are unable to print from your MAC PC running on 10.11 OS X.

Don't worry I will try to help you out.

What is the error message you get while printing?

Try Resetting the Printing System and check if it helps.

1.Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.

2.Click Printers & Scanners, Print & Scan, or Print & Fax.

3.Right-click (or Ctrl + click) your printer in the list on the left side of the window, and then click Reset printing system.

4.Click OK to confirm the reset.

5.Type your username and password in the Name and Password text fields.

6.Click OK.

The printing system resets.

7.Click the Add button.

8.Select your printer from the list, and then click Add.

If the issue still persists try installing 5.0 printer drivers from apple website directly and check if it helps.

Please find the link to install the printer drivers.

Let me know if this works!

Have a beautiful day ahead! 🙂

Thank you for responding.

There is no error message. I should have been clearer. The printer receives the signal to print, but the pages come out blank. I have tried resetting, and it has not helped.

I will try reinstalling again and if unsuccessful installing 5.0 drivers. Thanks for your help!

I followed each of your steps. Nothing changed.

About two hours after giving up, I turned the printer on and off (a step I'd tried before) and it shot out a printed page without me hitting the print button.  Who knows?

Thank you for your help!
