HP Envy 4520 Allin One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

All of a sudden....printer will print color on diagnostic pages but not on any other type of document! I looked at the virtual helps and tried multiple fixes but nothing has worked.  Please help.

I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and Install the drivers, follow the steps below:

 

Remove the USB if connected

 

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features 

2.) Select your HP Printer 

3.) Select Uninstall 

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers 

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device' 

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo. 

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s") 

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab 

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom 

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers 

 

Then, Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-envy-4520-all-in-one-printer-series/54... to download and install the HP ENVY 4520 series Full Feature Software and Drivers.

 

Try to print.

I just want to add that these solutions did NOT work for me. The full featured driver would never show me the color printing option again after I clean uninstall/re-installed it. I followed all the directions, multiple times and it would not work.

 

What DID work was letting the Print Diagnostic Utility uninstall the full featured driver and install just the BASIC driver.

I now have color printing again.

 

I don't know why it stopped in the first place (suspecting a software update somewhere), but for now I will just be happy that color printing is back in printing preferences.

 

Hope this will help those who are extremely frustrated. I wasted 3 hours on this issue. 😞
