Printer Specifications indicate Custom Sizes are supported.

If you have not done so, download-save-install the  Full Feature Software for the printer.

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in

Have you tried creating a Custom Paper size form?

Instructions here:

 Creating Custom Paper Sizes

More bits...

User Guide - open document and search for occurrences of "size"

Important:

After you change paper, look at the Printer Control Panel - if you see a message about the paper size, adjust settings.

Check / Adjust / Retain the Paper at the Printer Panel

Open Printer Tray,

If you have not yet done so, add desired paper type

Close Tray

IF applicable for your printer:

Look for a message on the Printer Control Panel,

Click Modify (wording varies), set the paper size and type, Click OK

NOTE:  If the size of the Paper Size is not in the Drop-down list, Select Custom

Set the Preferences - Windows

  1. The following assumes the Full Feature Software has been installed.
  2. Check / enable the printer as the “Default Printer”
  3. Select and adjust settings in each category for the Media (kind of paper), source (tray), and paper size.

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers > Right-Click on your printer > Set as Default

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers > Right-Click on your printer > Printing Preferences >

Tab Printing Shortcuts > Click / Highlight preferred shortcut > Click Apply > Click OK to exit

If the printer software supports the feature, change the settings as desired, then use “Save as” to create a Custom Shortcut.

OR

Windows key + S (search for) Printers and Scanners

Left-Click on (your) Printer > Manage >

Printing Preferences

Select a shortcut and / or set “preferred settings” for paper, source (tray), other settings

Optional (if / as available): Save As > enter a name for your custom shortcut

Click OK to save the preferences

8x10 is in the drop down menu. The only thing that makes a change in preview window is selecting portrait instead of landscape

if I choose 5x7 it changes then I select 8x10 there is no change. I'm using HP smart and I don't see any place to make a custom size?

I am not at all sure you can select a custom size in your HP Smart - the settings in the App are less robust than when using the Full Feature Software and another photo printing software.

Open the HP Smart App in Windows 10

Select to print a Photo

Select your photo

If the size is available, and if you cannot select the size in the HP Smart main print menu the paper size might be in "More Settings" (scroll to the bottom of the first "smart" print menu)

Select a "shortcut" along the top for printing photos

Select Paper size

and other options

Click OK and then print your photo

Sorry, although I can see the option and the 8x10 inch size in my More Settings - and that means nothing for your setup.

@ShlomiL

 Any insights?

Thanks.

Should I try reinstalling the softwre, if so how do I go about that? I was able to get my 8x10 by using another software program.

So, the answer is - you can print 8x10 (using software that can access the Full Feature Software / printer dialog).

The hope is - HP Smart can be convinced to cooperate and print the 8x10 inch size.

OK...

HP Smart is perhaps already updated, but you can check and update it or even remove and reload it.

At this check, The Windows 10 HP Smart version: 105.1.623.0

Just in case...

Check installed  HP Smart Version

Open HP Smart > click the Settings Wheel > select "About" to check the installed version

Update / Load / Launch HP Smart

Open Windows Store

Search for HP Smart

Click the Launch button (upper right corner of the menu)

If the app needs to update, it will likely do so as it is being started.

OR

Uninstall HP Smart > Download and Install the App

You can "uninstall" the app from Settings > Apps and Features

Restart the computer and log in (Windows loves a good Restart)

Open the Store > search for the HP Smart App > download and install.
