"paper jam" error msg. with no paper jam detected after thorough investigation. Also printer cartridge will not move left even after gentle persuasion.

It seems like the print carriage is stuck.
If you have tried the steps mentioned in this document and the issue persists, I'm afraid this is a hardware issue with the printer.
Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.
If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.
