HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer

The printer has a message that pops up and says, "photo tray blocked." That is clearly not the photo tray's issue, because I have checked the photo tray multiple times and I also put the printer on its right side to see what is going on. There isn't any problem with the photo tray, for sure. There must be a problem with the hardware since the software is probably fine. Please tell me how to fix that pop-up message that the photo tray is "blocked." Even if you press "OK" on the message, it checks everything in the printer automatically and brings up that same message.

Please contact me ASAP, as this is very important and I am starting to think of throwing the printer away, which I would not want to do.

Thanks a lot,

Z.T.

Hi @Zyama

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

I have an Envy 7640-e and I am getting the error message mentioned.   I have tried all of the suggestions online and nothing is working.  I have also unplugged the printer.
