I'm glad we got to the bottom of this one. Thanks for your patience. I think I've learned a few things from this process that can be used to improve our future products, so winners all around.

How do you fix this for a Windows computer? We have this problem with a Windows 7 and a Windows 8.1 user. If we instead use the built in Windows Scanning utilitiy we can get around the issue but we lose all the good features the HP software would provide us.
These are domain joined pc's and the scan utility works if you "run as administrator" and enter admin credentials. But if you just launch it as the user they get limited drop down menus and can't scan.
