I have purchased the HP Envy 4250 for my daughter to use at University. She lives in a block of student flats with communal wifi. When we try to register the printer for Instant Ink it will not complete the process, I suspect this is due to the communal wifi rather than her own 'personal' one. Can you think of any solution?

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you purchased the HP ENVY 4250 Printer for your daughter to use at University and are trying to sign up for Instant Ink. I will certainly do my best to help you and please remember to return to this thread and mark 'Accept as Solution' if I have successfully helped you resolve the issue. The reason you're experiencing problems is because of the type of network at the university. The network is large with limited access. The printer requires internet access and needs to stay connected to the server to use Instant Ink.
In addition, if the printer is connected to this network, everyone on the same network will be able to print to her printer (leaving her printer vulnerable).
I understand the need and want to use this program while at school, however, the current accommodations are not ideal.
If you insist on using Instant Ink, you can have her try using a mobile hotspot to connect the printer to Web Services for Instant Ink. This type of connection is not recommended, as it can cause replenishment issues and is not a stable connection. She would need to connect it once a day to the hotspot to connect the printer to the server to send updates.
NOTE: Please make sure that you're close enough to the printer when you connecting to the hotspot.
As for printing is concerned, I recommend that she a USB connection or Wi-Fi Direct (with security).
I hope this information is helpful.
