Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

I have tried pretty much everything. Print jobs go through but come out blank or with a few letters. Photocopies also don't work. Tried re-installing software but get message saying it can't connect. Wifi working fine. Cartridges new, inserted correctly and ink levels showing up fine. Have had various messages, e.g. paper jam, internal error, etc. but there is no paper jam etc. I get the flashing exclamation mark when I send a job to print.

@leilag, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

If the attention light blinks on the printer, it refers to a paper jam. Let us try these steps:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Update the printer firmware

Refer to the steps mentioned in this document to check and verify there are no papers stuck inside the printer and to make sure the print carriage is moving freely.

Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

You may also try printing a test page from the printer.

  1. Touch and hold the Power button (), and then press the Cancel button ().

  2. Let go of the Cancel button and then the Power button. The test page prints.

Let me know how this goes.
