After Windows 8.1 update, not Toolbox or Utilities

Product Name: Office Jet Pro 8600
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hi, I updated my software for 8.1.  Had to do this manually because it wasn't working automatically.  Got the printer to work, but I don't see the toolbox or the utility panel.  Not sure what you call it, but it gave me computer access to the Fax, Scanner and Printer.  This was so helpful.

It looks like this might not be included in the update for win.8?  If that is the case, will there be one in the future?  I am really struggling without it.

thanks for any insight,

Kristi

Hi Kristi,

To get the utilities ensure you have the latest software installed.

First press both the Windows Logo and the X keys on your keyboard, then click on Programs and Features.

Type HP ito the search bar, uninstall the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Basic Device Software if a such exists, then clost teh Programs and Features dialog.

Next download and follwo the tool below to reinstall the full feature software with the HP Printer Assistant and any related utilties:

Re: After Windows 8.1 update, not Toolbox or Utilities

[ Edited ]

Thanks Shlomi,  I uninstalled my HP Printer files and started to install the full feature software from your link below.  All was good, but once it gets to "Checking network environment" the setup stalls.  I looked into this and on one forum it said to uninstall software and delete printer registry keys.  THEN reinstall the full feature software again.  This is where I get scared.  I have an HP printer and my computer is also an HP.  I surely don't want to delete the HP software for me computer!  Should I mess with the registry keys, and if so, which keys do I delete?  Here is a url to a screenshot of the registry keys listed in    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE  /  SOFTWARE

Any additional help would be appreciated, since I uninstalled the printer now and I can't use it because of this stopper. Thanks!

Kristi

(I have an HP Pavilion, running windows 8.1 64 bit)
This is where I got info about the registry key:

Re: After Windows 8.1 update, not Toolbox or Utilities

Shlomi - I fixed it!  I found this one tip to get me past the hang up in the "Checking Network Solutions" problem.  I had to uninstall old software, then Reset Winsock settings -  then install the software from link you gave me.  Works great - thanks!

Here is the link to the Reset Winsock Settings for the Checking Network Solutions issue:
