Can not print powerpoint or pdf document.

Hello all, I have the strangest issue.

I can print just fine from word, from the web browser, etc. in full color and multiple pages.

However, when I try to print a power point presentation or even a .pdf file, my printer tray says it's "sending data to printer" and remain that way indefinitely unless I turn off the printer and back on.  Canceling the print job will not do anything.

I can't figure it out.  I reset the printer settings (factory reset on the device and firmware update).  Cleared out everything.  Reinstalled the drivers.  Readded the printer. Rebooted the computer numerous times. Tried different users on the computer.  I have tried USB connection, wifi, direct wifi, etc.  Still, the same issue whenever I try to print any powerpoint or pdf file.  Word, excel spreadsheets, full-colored images from chrome, etc. all print just fine.  

I have scoured the print settings within powerpoint and I am seeing nothing.  It just gets stuck at "sending data to printer" and the printer display will say "printing document" and nothing happens at all until I shut off the printer and turn it back on.  I have tried removing the power cable and waited 20 seconds to fully power cycle it and still nothing.  The toner is full.  Can print test pages just fine.  It's ONLY powerpoint/pdf files.  It's driving me literally up the wall trying to figure this out.  And yes, I have tried reinstalling powerpoint as well as using powerpoint from the browser too.  

What is happening here?  Please help!  Thank you.
