HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently bought this printer to replace a dinosaur and love it, except an issue with scanning.

I  scan a document and send it to my self from work with a different machine. Black and white PDF, 17 pages, appears crystal clear. This file is 114KB

I open it at home, edit it, print it, sign it, then try to scan it.

I have used all the settings - Color, Greyscale, higher and lower resolution.

All scans end up blueish and looking far worse than the original and file sizes are between 14,000KB and 50,000KB, which are harder to send.

How can I scan a clean black and white copy at a manageable file size?

Endless searching on HP's website and though my product's software has not yielded one possibility.

The machine is brand new - the glass is clean.

Thanks!

Please try this scan solution:

HP Scan Extended

For Windows:   ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

Make searchable PDFs scans with this free scanning software - https://www.naps2.com/

Let us know.

For MAC -  http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04788799   (Have not tested).

I just tried the solution you suggested a number of months ago, and I'm not sure of the steps to take after installing the extender.  When double-clicking the icon I just get a "The HP Imaging Device was not found" error.  How do I tie the extender to my printer/scanner?  Thanks!
