LaserJet 500 color M551
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I have a LaserJet 500 color M551 printer at work that has not been used for some time. I plugged it in and everything works, but the colors will not line up. When I print the Diagnostics page, it is clear that Cyan, Magenta and Yellow are not aligned. The black is right where it should be. I have run the quick and full calibration. Nothing seems to change. I cannot find anything on the internet to help correct this issue. Any suggestions?

I would suggest that you perform a factory default restore which will clear any current calibration data, which may be corrupt. After resetting you may have to run up to 3 full calibrations to get the alignment correct.

The black will always align to itself, it's its own color, it will never be out of alignment with itself. The colors now have to align to the black. Print a supplies status page to show the color alignments. If the colors are all out of calibration the same way, replace the black toner cartridge. I have found many times where the black cartridge is so out of calibration contention for the colors, the colors can't align. Replacing it fixes the issue, but may take three or more full calibrations to align again correctly once replaced.

Good luck.
