Copies print in color. I am using black only. Verbage is printed light red.

laserjet pro 6975
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Using the copy function on the printer, copies are light red colored, even though I select black ink only.  Drivers should net have anything to do with it, but I upgraded anyway.  Printing works fine.  I'm stumped.

@wcfoster I didn't find any product named Laserjet pro 6975, is it an HP OfficeJet Pro 6975 All-in-One Printer that you have? Please confirm, if yes, please try the below steps:

 

Clean the scanner, since the issue only occurs while using the copier:

Fingerprints, smudges, dust, or debris on the scanner glass, under the scanner lid, or in the document feed slot can cause lines and color bands. Clean these parts with a soft, lint-free cloth sprayed with glass cleaner.

Read one of the following sections for steps to clean these components, depending on your printer type.

You are correct, it is an OfficeJet Pro 6975. Cleaning the glass did not help.  This is not a smudge, it simply copies black letters to a brownish red.  Prints fine from the computer.

@wcfoster I understand it's not a smudge, however, the steps mentioned in the article should help resolve the issue, if it doesn't help, I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options, follow the below steps to get started:

 

1) Click on this link - http://www.hp.com/contacthp/

2) Click on Sign-in or select the product using the below step:

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Click on "Show Options".

Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!
