Document Feeder produces "scratched" images

Product Name: LaserJet Pro MFP M225dw
Operating System: macOS 10.12 Sierra

While scans from hand-placed originals and copies of digitally-fed documents look fine, any document delivered by the document feeder produces an image with a line running lengthwise through it. Please advise.

Lift up the cover like you are going to put a sheet on the glass. Look over to the left and there is a strip of glass. This is the strip of glass that needs to be cleaned as this is where the sheets from the ADF go over during the scanning portion. If still an issue use one of the sheets to line up the spot on the strip and use your fingernail to scrape off the debris. The spot of dirt can be very very little so use windex and scrub real hard.
