Product: HP OfficeJet 6954 All-in-One Printer

Today I tried to copy from a book and I pressed down hard on the printer lid and it came out of the place where it connects to the printer.  I put it back and now when I try to copy from the feeder I get a message that says the feeder was unable to pick up the original.  I can still copy something if I pick up the lid and place the document on the glass.  Did something break that I cannot see?  Can this be fixed?  The feeder still threads the document through.
