Trying to use Wired Network connection.  I can ping the printer IP address.  It's connected and working on 2 XP machines, so I think the problem has something to do with my Windows 7 machine.  I've tried installing as "run as administrator", uninstalled and re-installed 3 times, ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor, downloaded must current installation .exe.  I found this for the meaning of the HRESULT. HRESULT 0x80070003 means "the system cannot find the file specified.  I'm not sure what file it can't find. The InfPath below does exist, so it must not be that one.  I even tried to install as USB and even that didn't complete successfully.

Hello DAWHP108

What is the error what appears during the installation? Does the installer just stop and you came across the error in the Event Viewer?

Try the following steps:
1. Uninstall the Officejet 8600 from Add/Remove Programs.
2. Using the search/run field at the Start Menu type "msconfig" without quotes. Go to the startup tab and disable all startup programs.
3. Restart
4. Download the latest Officejet 8600 Full Feature Software for Windows 7 and try reinstalling again.

Let me know how it goes. If you receive any errors during the installation, take a screenshot and attach it to your next post.

I am experiencing the same error (Event ID 215 PrintService) when I log in to my server as an Adminstrator although I am not attempting to install a printer or print driver.  This message simply appears EVERY time I log in using my Administrator account.  Any suggestions?

I did review a Microsoft article (ID 25442297) that discussed this error occurrence potentially related to a recent update to SP1 on the Windows 2008r2 server (which we recently installed) and simply to ignore it but I wanted to make sure that is also the recommendation of HP since the error involves an HP UPD PCL5.

Thank you for any additional insight provided.
