Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M281fdw printer that has worked fine to allow autoduplex prints of multiple pages with various drivers from various sources: namely old PC on Win 7, new laptop on Win 10, two different phones, one Apple, one Samsung.  With the loss of support for Windows 7, I recently bought a new HP desktop M01-F0024 with Windows 10.  Now the autoduplex will not work from the new computer, but still works fine with the older hardware.  Any ideas?  I have removed and reinstalled, also updated printer software in two different ways.  Still will not autoduplex properly.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

 

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

 

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

 

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

First, I want to thank you for responding with a very well scripted plan.  Perhaps it would have worked, however, I stumbled in to a different solution that seems to have solved the problem.  In the HP support area for my printer, there was a firmware update listed.  I ran it, and now the auto duplexing works fine from the new computer.  I still need to ensure that it is also working fine from other devices.  If I run in to any more problems, I will come back to follow your advice.  Thanks
