HP CLJ M651

Hi I have a HP CLJ M651 which isn't printing magenta. All other colours are printing fine and there are no error codes in the event log.

I 've already replaced the magenta toner twice (with originals) and the transfer belt ans 2nd transfe roller.

The laser shutter is operating correctly and I can see no signs of damge to any of the contacts in the magenta toner slot, or any of the others.

There is no magenta image appearing on either the drum or transfer belt when I stop it halfway through a print to check.

All other colours are in alignment.

As there are no error codes either I'm not sure as to which part may be causing the issue.

Would an error code appear if the either of the HVPS's were faulty?

I'm also assuming that if the laser unit was faulty it would throw up an error code, or the other colours would be affected?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

We finally resolved ours. If you take off the front upper cover, there is a contact point also at the front of the cartridge. This was bent up, not making contact. We bent it back down and the missing color now prints. It's easy to miss without removing the cover.

I have since replaced the upper and lower HVPS's but with no change. Checked all contacts whilst the printer was in pieces, all looked ok, bit stumped as to what could be causing this.

Did you perform the simple first. Did you go into the troubleshooting menu and disable the cartridge check and swap the magenta and black toners and then perform the same test. If black does not print, then yes it points to the slot and I guess it could be the laser/scanner since there are no shutters and dirt on the lens would not completely stop a color. If the black now prints, then that would indicate a toner cartridge issue.  Also have you performed an engine test. If the magenta prints on the engine test, that would indicate an issue with the formatter.

Hi David
Thanks for your reply. Yes I did swap the toners so the issue is with the magenta slot. I haven't tried an engine test so I'll try that next.
As the yellow and magenta share a laser unit, wouldn't the the yellow be affected as well if the laser was faulty, and wouldn't an error code appear if indeed there is an issue with the laser unit?

i have mfp m126 nw printer.today when i turned on printer to take print its thee notification light remains on(Wi fi indication, warnig indication and the green light indication). It seems that these signals get stuck somewhere and the control panel screen doesnt work as well.when i turned on the printer the thee indication lights on and stuck and control panel screen on printer shows nothing.I tried to rsolve it by hp print and scan doctor but problem didnt sort out.Softawre says everything works fine but page was unable to print.I also tried to reset it by removing the power cable for 60 sec than reconnect it and turn on the printer but that process also didnt worked for me as well. Please help me to get rid of this problem

They share I think the same motor but all other components are their own. You may be able to test by covering the main high voltage contact on the magenta toner and run a test. If you get solid magenta on the page that would indicate an issue with the laser/scanner.

Did this ever get resolved? We are fighting one that is the black. We've followed all the steps you listed above in troubleshooting and had HP support point is to the laser, which did not resolve the issue. Could use your input on whether you ever resolved or not.

Sorry it's taken so long to post back. They same thing was the culprit on the 651 I was looking at, bent contact. Thanks for the heads up.
