HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello,

I've recently purchased the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw after finding that its specifications seem to suit my needs (printing resolution of 600 x 600 and scanning of up to 1200 x 1200). But unfortunately, I have found that it can't scan in 1200 x 1200 dpi from the printer's panel, unless from a dedicated software like Photoshop. Does anyone else has the same issue?

Thanks

@Manannan, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Are you using the flatbed or the Automatic Document Feeder?

Also, Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Try scanning.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi @TEJ1602, thanks for your reply.

Yep, the first thing I did was to install the latest firmware. And yes, I scan from the flatbed. 🙂 But actually, the setting itself is not relevant to the paper location - it's just not there to pick. I put a paper in the flatbed beforehand just in case there's a sensor that recognizes a paper in the flatbed that perhaps makes the 1200 dpi option available, but unfortunately it does not. The maximum option is 600 dpi...

Sorry to keep you waiting!

I'd further suggest you contact the HP Support in your region for remote assistance on this issue.

Thanks for understanding!

Thanks @TEJ1602 for the reply.

I'm an IT guy. Remote session for support is not relevant in this matter as this is the printer itself I speak of - HP support cannot remote to the printer itself as far as I'm aware of. But if you meant a remote session so they could check the printer's local web interface from my computer then I can do it myself. Besides, I raised this matter here in order to get an online solution so other customers could learn from it. I can provide screenshots of the printer's local web interface if needed. Just let me know what info you need to troubleshoot this matter further.

Thanks

The only option left is to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.

Hope this helps!
