LaserJet 1320
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Greetings:

I read multiple issues with the 1320 USB connected printer from various sources including HP. The symptoms are common. The time frames when the symptoms occur are different.

On June 18, 2017, I rebuilt my software environment beginning with a clean install of Windows 10 Pro. Subsequent to installing print drivers for the 1320, the printer has not functioned. Windows recognizes the printer exists from the Devices and Printers control panel. Windows simply cannot communicate with the 1320.

Today, I downloaded and attempted to make use of the HP Printer and Scan Doctor. This utility is of little help if it cannot communicate with the 1320.

One posted thread suggests changing settings from the Device Manager > Ports (COM & LPT) > Printer Port (LPT1) > Port Settings properties as follows:

  1. Select "Use any interrupt assigned to the port"
  2. Select "Enable legacy Plug and Play detection"

After making these settings a reboot is required.

I subsequently was unable to communicate with the 1320.

I am considering biting the bullet to pay for HP's $99 charge to speak with someone who is able to use a remotely connect and see settings on my computer.

I sincerely hope those affecting by these symptoms will have resolution sooner than later.

Much thanks,

David Bach
