Hi PrintersWc,

I don't think your original formatter is faulty.

What were the original problems you had before replacing the hard drive?

Did you replace the hard drive with a compatible hard drive?

When trying to load the firmware from the USB thumbdrive, did you do an Erase/Unlock first?

Was your USB thumbdrive formatted in FAT32 ?

Happy to help you on this matter. Please provide more information and feedback.

Can you confirm the error code as 93.xx.xx codes are not listed in the standard troubleshooting documents for this product.

I did format thumb drive to fat32 first, load the firmware second on theThumb drive, I make sure on the printer did run erase/unlock, check Format disk, went to download from USB Thumb drive and still get 99.02.30

sorry the error message is 99.02.30

The new hard drive from HP parts, yes

Unlucky you are, that error code is not in the support documents either. The other 99.02 errors are related to the firmware install. If you run diagnostics from the preboot menu does the harddrive test ok?

What were the original problems you had before replacing the hard drive? I just updated the firmware with the same thumb drive, we have about 7, M855 in the company, have no problems with the others, just this printer

So, if I understand correctly:

When you have the original formatter in, you get the 99.02.30 error.

And when you put the replacement formatter in, you just get a blank screen?

Do  you have any other extra accessories installed in the printer (like a fax card) ?

If yes, try to remove these completely, and try again with: Erase/Unlock, Download firmware from usb thumbdrive and then continue.

Check the connections on formatter, on ICB (interconnection board) and on DC controller, making sure everything is seated ok.
