Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there, my printer just stopped working after a thunderstorm (not sure if  related or not) when turning on the printer it makes all the  sounds/ noises always does  that shows it is turning on.

Even though the power button is on... the screen is completely off ! I can't do or control any thing.

When trying to print from a computer it shows that it is offline.

Welcome to HP support community.

Perform a power reset

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet and printer without any surge protector.
  6. Turn on the printer.

Update the printer firmware

Here are the steps:- Click here

I hope that helps.

This seems to be a hardware issue.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.

Ok, I had  to say  my HP laserjeet M277 dw printer is the best printer I ever had, probably  It was my mistake  leaving the printer plugged in when  the thunderstorm happened, but if your printer is out  of  warranty ..then good luck getting support fixing it , let alone finding someone to talk to. It took me  two to three days to find someone at HP who gave me a solid answer , which is "buy  a new printer",I had  to  go online to " hp smartfriend" those guys support out of warranty HP products  mostly software issues but they do hardware too, and it ain't cheap. but at least I know  there will be no fixing it.

Yes, do not keep the printer or any electrical devices when there is thunderstorm.

Feel free to contact us in the future if you need any assistance.
