My hp color laser mfp 178nw keeps telling me the paper tray is empty when it's not.  I've done everything I can think of to solve this.  I've uninstalled and re-installed the printer, made sure all drivers are updated, and made sure paper is loaded correctly.  This printer is only a couple of months old and not been used much.  Very disappointed.

@usyungs, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Try the steps below to resolve the issue-

Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website. With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. For more information, go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.

I would recommend you follow the steps from the document Printer Does Not Pick Paper. If the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Hope this helps!
