Product: HP-452dn

I get alerts one my HP452dn printer with newly installed genuine cartridges and still get the low supplies warning. Prints are OK, see picture. What kind of warning system is this? I normally print line plots with very little color, pages are 98% white. Does it really measure the supply level or does it count the number of prints and assumes the cartridge is empty? I fear it is the last. Can anybody explain. this to me? I don't buy the genuine cartridge bogus story, since I do exclusively use genuine cartridges
