CP2025dn

I have a CP2025dn in our presidents office that makes a high pitched tone when it prints. I noticed that initally it did it when the page was about to come out and about to finish. I checked the fan in the back and nothing was rubbing against the blades. The toner colors were 90% full and the black 50%. It hasn't been used very much over the past 3 to 4 months due to our campus having restricted personel. If anyone has thoughts on things I might oil or check, let me know. If it is a toner cartridge, how do I tell which one is the culprit? Thank you for any expertise you can provide.

Hi @captstent

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to help.

Please try these steps -

1) Take out the cartridges.

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Wait for 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not to a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

If the issue still persists, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your printer. If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. If it is a whine then it is quite possibly a noisy drum on one cartridge, very common with 3rd party cartridges, less so with OEM. The challenge is that I do not believe you can rotate colors independently in the troubleshooting menu as you can with enterprise models.

I may have figured it out. I will accept as a solution the answers sent me. I appreciate the brain power that is out there.

I kept getting call backs and after replacing the black toner cartridge and still hearing it, I realized it was plugged into an old UPS under the desk. When the printer would print and pull a load too much for the old UPS it would beep. I know that HP's should be plugged directly into a wall receptacle so I did that and the pages I  printed and starting the printer over and over, never heard the high pitched beep.
