I accidentally broke the yellow cartridge of my brand new Laser Printer hp CP1215. I want to just use only other colors like magenta and cyan etc. But the printer is not printing at all because there is no yellow cartridge.

Is there a way out to print using other colors like magenta or cyan? I want to do only text typing (highlighting) using these colors. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate and hp Color Laser Printer CP1215.

I want to highlight some text using magenta or cyan to show important points. I want to use black, magenta and cyan colors for text. Changing settings to print only black and white cannot do this.

Unfortunately you are going to have to purchase a yellow toner cartridge to resolve the issue.

Thank you for your interest in solving my problem. My work is just printing text. I don't require yellow color at all. Even if I buy it, it will be a waste for me. Please advise me a way to bypass the necessity to buy a new yellow toner cartridge.

I have a humble suggestion. If we can block the detection of the yellow toner cartridge by the printer, it will print thinking that there is a functioning yellow toner cartridge. Since I am not printing an image, the result would be acceptable. Printer hardware engineers may know this way out.

It looks like hp color laserjets are made for picture printing only. People like me who use it for text printing cannot use it unless a color cartridge which is not used also is purchased and installed. Since there is no solution, I have decided to dispose of the color laser printer hp CP1215 and get relieved of the problem of purchasing something which I don't require.

Hi RaoPN,

The CP1215 was not designed to function without having all the print cartridges installed. If you need a text only laserJet printer check out the following site. Let me know if you need additional information?

Thank you very much for the reply. I apologise for the delay in responding. Your suggestion is to buy another printer. But with a monochrome printer, I cannot highlight text using magenta and cyan. Yellow color will not be useful to highlight text because the letters will be less prominent. Even if I buy the yellow toner cartridge it will be a waste for me. If there is a way to block the yellow cartridge detection, and make the printer print with whatever colors are available, my purpose is served.

Hi RaoPN,

No, there is no way to bypass the need for a yellow cartridge. If you want to continue using the printer you will need to purchase a new cartridge.

Thank you for the clarification. I am being forced to dispose off hp color laserjet printer and search for another company's color laser printer which will meet my need of printing text in black, magenta and cyan. A customer must not be forced to buy a cartridge he does not require or use. I hope the company's research wing takes a note of this.

Thank you once again
