No error messages, but printer only prints black pages(fully inked)  showing no text.  New problem & cartridge seems OK.

Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

Power resetting the printer, cleaning the toner electrical contacts and paper pickup rollers may resolve the issue. Let's try these steps:

1) Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector

2) Remove the toner cartridges from the printer and close the door

3) Remove the power cord from the back of the printer (Do no press the power button)

4) Clean the toner electrical contacts, refer to step 4 from this document.

5) Plug the power cord back into the printer

6) Wait for the printer to turn on completely, then install the toner cartridges.

7.) Clean the paper pickup rollers, refer to solution four from this document.

Let me know how it goes!

Thanks.  Did not need to follow all instructions.  Just let the printer start completely & replaced the cartridge carefully.  However I have preserved your tips in 2 spots for future reference.   The printer may old, but it's as reliable as if it were new.
