I am trying to install a replacement cartridge for the first time in my Samsung SL-M2024W that I recently purchased. The cartridge almost fits in, but when I try to close the top, it won't close. I tried reinstalling the old original cartridge and it won't fit back in either. I have a generic replacement, not the factory one, but, because even the old factory won't fit in, I don't think that using a generic cartridge is the problem. The cartridges slide in, but they don't slide far enough to the back to get the "click" and the top won't come closed by about an inch. What could be wrong? Thanks for your help. Doug Bell,

Check the cavity of the printer carefully to make sure that something has either come loose or a piece of cartridge has not come off and is preventing proper seating of the cartridge. This is actually pretty common depending on the quality of the 3rd party product you are trying to use.

Someone said to look inside for possible broken parts. But on HP, maybe you're just not sliding them gently enough. They dont snap into place and only need a gentle push along the track to go where they're supposed to be going. It took me a very long time to realize this. Thanks to all the suggestions.

Thanks for all your help. I took the printer in to my local Office Max and the technician found that I had inserted too much of the cartridge and container the first time. He eventually found some of the "wrapper" inside my printer. He took that out and now all is fine.
