The original problem with this printer showed a 30.01.41 error code.  I printed out the event log and it showed a firmware install error just before this code started appearing.  I check the scanner connections to be sure there wasn't anything loose.  I downloaded and installed the current firmware on the HP website for this model.  After resetting power, it booted up but went into a hard 49.38.07 error code and asks me to power on/off and restart.  I tried this a couple of times but no change.  I followed the instructions on another thread to load the firmware using the pre-boot method but that didn't make a difference.  I downloaded the firmware again to make sure there wasn't a corrupt file downloaded previously but now I can't even get into the pre-boot screen using the same procedure as before.

Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately there is not complete guide to 49 errors that HP makes available to technicians, we pretty much have to call in if the steps you have already taken do not resolve the problem. Have you formatted the hard disk through the preboot menu? That is another option in the administration menu. I have had bad modems cause 49 errors. Are you doing all your testing with the network cable detached from the printer?
