I am still having this problem; the support number didn't provide any solution.  Everything is still printing too faintly.

Does anyone know how to turn off Economode in Windows 10 for a LaserJet 1150?

HP Recommended

Disconnect printer from the computer, print demo page. If printer prints faintly perform cold reset, print another demo page and compare it with the one before cold reset.

Thank you very much for the suggestion.  How do I do a cold reset?

HP Recommended

Oh my God, the cold reset worked!  I have endured faint copy for the past year, and now the problem is solved!  Thank you so much!

When I called HP support, they said I had to buy a whole new printer.  And others have told me the same.  But this 14-year-old printer works just fine, and throwing it away strikes me as both environmentally destructive and also a waste of money.  I'll throw it away when it actually stops working.

The first time I saw your post, the directions for doing a cold reset did not appear, for some reason, hence my earlier question about how to do a cold reset.  Just in case anyone else is having the same problem, I've written down the words in normal text and added a few of my own (in parentheses).  Thank you again--you solved a year-long problem!

To perform a cold reset (on a LaserJet 1150),

1.  Turn the printer off.

2.  Press and hold down the Go button (big button on right).

3.  Turn the printer on and continue to hold down the Go button for at least 5 seconds but not longer than 15 seconds.  During this process the Attention LED (little button at bottom left) will turn on.

4.  Release the Go button.

If both the Attention and the Ready LEDs turn on before you release the Go button, you must start the procedure again with Step 1.  (The Ready LED is the little button at top left).

5.  The printer's (three) LEDs will begin cycling.  The cold-reset process will run until completion, and the printer will return to the ready state.
