I'm getting a black line down the middle of each page that I print.  I've cleaned the drum, replaced the toner cartridges (all of them...), have printed multiple cleaner-pages, and done multiple restarts and unplugs.   Still the issue persists.

If I wait a few minutes before between each print, I'm good.  But if i print 3 or more pages the line slowly begins to show up and gets darker until about page 8 or 10 and then it's essentially a solid black line right down the middle of each page.

Would love some help considering i just replaced the cartridges again and actually like the printer...when it doesn't print unwanted black lines.

Hi @xliver

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you to resolve the print quality issue on the printer.

Have you tried making a standalone copy and check if the issue persists? By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Do you get this line on the printer reports or the cleaning page as well?

Try printing a demo page. Click here to know how. Check if the print out has the line.

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Update the printer firmware

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
