Laserjet 1536dnf printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a problem with an older Laserjet 1536dnf printer that stoped working.

Printer just stops working.  Recycle power and the printer works fine for about a 5-10 min, but then it just seems to stop functioning.

When it stops working, all the buttons on the control panel do not seem to work.  Hitting any button, nothing happens.  Recycle the power and all is back to normal for another 5-10min.

@ilann, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest firmware from your computer.

If the issue persists, let us factory reset the printer.

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

@ilann, that's unfortunate. Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer. If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Bad formatter and it is a M1536's known bad issue.

You'll need to replace the formatter or bake it in the oven to try to save it back.

Just go to youtube and search "HP bake" you'll find many of them.

Just take off left cover and the formatter (the biggest one which you plug usb into) is in there.

Just try it and it's not an joke it really works.
